Peridot & San Carlos Volunteer Opportunity

Builders For Christ will once again be serving in Peridot and San Carlos from January 13 – March 28, 2026. Volunteers will help with much-needed construction and maintenance projects, from transforming a historic church into a Native Christian Network building to completing critical repairs at a local school. With opportunities to serve in both communities, this winter’s projects will offer plenty of ways for volunteers to make a lasting impact.

Information

Location: Peridot & San Carlos, Arizona

Dates: January 13 - March 28, 2026

Number of volunteers needed: 30-50 volunteers

Project Manager:  Jim Bublitz & Wade Steiger

BFC will return this winter to serve in Peridot and San Carlos. In San Carlos, volunteers will help renovate the historic 1921 church into a Native Christian Network building, including interior repairs, new windows, and drywall work. In Peridot, the school needs maintenance, including roof repairs (the current roof is coming loose), new soffits and fascia, classroom and library updates, window painting, and railings on steps as required by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Projects are expected to take 2–3 months, with the possibility of hosting two volunteer groups at once.

Housing

For volunteers, there are several lodging options available during your service:

  • BFC Campers: Two BFC campers are available for $100 per week. These are a great option for those who prefer a more private and mobile living space.

  • RV Camp Sites: Seven RV campsites will be available for volunteers, providing a more rustic experience in the beautiful outdoors. They have electric, water, and sewer.

  • BFC duplex: There will be several rooms, a white trailer with two bedrooms, and additional housing options with staff on-site

Food

A noon meal, snacks, and water will be provided each day. Volunteers are responsible for their own meals in the morning, evening, and on non-working days. Anyone not involved with the day-to-day building process is encouraged to assist the congregation with the meals and break snacks as needed.

FAQ

Do I need to have previous experience to apply?

Each phase of the project requires different skills and numbers of volunteers, so if you’ve never lifted a hammer, you can still volunteer! Our experienced volunteers happily provide on-the-job training to those who need it.

What should I bring?

While bringing your own tools and safety equipment is encouraged, it is not a requirement. We understand not everyone can access the necessary tools or safety equipment. If you have your own items, feel free to bring them. This would include safety glasses, a hard hat, appropriate shoes, hammer, tool belt, 1″x25′ tape measure, speed square, utility knife with blades, bird’s foot/cat’s paw, pencil(s), and chalk line. If you’re traveling by plane and find it difficult to pack these items or don’t have them, we have them covered.

Are there age restrictions?

Anyone 16 years of age or older may serve on a Builders For Christ project. Volunteers under the age of 18 must have an adult chaperone who will volunteer as their supervisor. Only volunteers age 18 and older are permitted to operate motor vehicles and power tools, climb ladders and scaffolding, work on a roof, or engage in any other hazardous activities.
