Hurricane Michael caused extensive destruction in Panama City, FL. Among the buildings that were damaged were Amazing Grace Lutheran Church, their parsonage, and nearby homes. Builders For Christ, together with WELS Christian Aid & Relief, is going to help with the rebuilding efforts. Volunteer for just a few days all the way up to a few months—all help is appreciated!
Location: Panama City, FL
Dates: Now-March 2019
Number of volunteers needed: 30-40
Project Manager: Mark Pamperin
Do I need to have previous experience to apply?
Each phase of the project requires different skills and numbers of volunteers, so if you’ve never lifted a hammer, you can still volunteer! Our experienced volunteers happily provide on-the-job training to those who need it.
What should I bring?
Safety equipment will be supplied, but please wear clothing that protects you from sharp and blunt objects. Shoes must either be tennis shoes or thicker. Volunteers use their own personal tools, such as a hammer, nail belt, 1”x25’ tape measure, speed square, utility knife with blades, pry bar, and chalk line. All other tools are provided by Builders For Christ.
Are there age restrictions?
Anyone 16 years of age or older may serve on a Builders For Christ project. Volunteers under the age of 18 must have an adult chaperone who will volunteer as their supervisor. Only volunteers age 18 and older are permitted to operate motor vehicles and power tools, climb ladders and scaffolding, work on a roof, or engage in any other hazardous activities.
Housing for 40 volunteers is available. RV parking will likely be available—please contact us for more information.
Meals will be provided.
