Understanding Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday Frequently Asked Questions

What is Giving Tuesday?

Giving Tuesday is a global event that is touted as being a "global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world." It's a day when nonprofits and organizations around the world encourage people to make a donation to support the work being done to change lives.

When is Giving Tuesday?

Giving Tuesday takes place on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. This year Giving Tuesday will take place on Tuesday, November 29th, 2022.

What does Kingdom Workers do for Giving Tuesday?

Traditionally Kingdom Workers has used Giving Tuesday to spotlight one of our programs around the world. During the month of November we share videos, blogs, social media posts, and more to help educate, encourage, and thank all those who support what we do. In the past we've spotlighted our work with women's health in Indonesia (2019), the disability care work in Malawi (2020), and our Build Up: Mentoring Teens in Trades program (2021). This year we're focusing on our Health & Sanitation work happening in Nigeria.

How can I be a part of Giving Tuesday?

One of the main ways you can be part of Giving Tuesday is to make a donation online on Tuesday, November 29, 2022. You can also encourage your friends and family to join you by making gifts this day. We also encourage people to take time to watch our videos and learn about the different ways that our volunteers are both sharing the gospel and changing people's lives. And if you like hearing about this work you can sign up for our Newsletter where you can receive regular updates about our work here at Kingdom Workers.

Is there a match for Giving Tuesday?

Yes! Every year we have generous donors who provide us with a gift match. This means that when you give to Kingdom Workers during Giving Tuesday, your gift is matched dollar for dollar.

This year, our $100,000 gift match is possible thanks to the generosity of our current and former board directors. They came together to dedicate this match in honor of the late Kingdom Workers Co-founder, Jim Haag. Jim Haag passed away in September of this year after a battle with cancer. While we certainly miss Jim, we also praise God that he had faith in Jesus.

Jim played an integral role in helping co-found Kingdom Workers along with Bob Grebe back in 1986-1989. What started as a hope to provide more lay people with opportunities to serve has grown to become a fruitful organization serving in eight different countries around the world. You can read more about Jim Haag's work with Kingdom Workers here.

Gifts of all size are appreciated and are used to make what we do at Kingdom Workers possible.
