I am excited to join the team at Kingdom Workers as a Foster Support Coordinator. Since 2001, I have provided in-home parenting education and support services to families involved in the child welfare system. I am looking forward to God’s blessings in this new role of strengthening foster families as they open their hearts and homes to children in need of a safe place.
The number of children in foster care is increasing rapidly—due in large part to the opioid epidemic. This means strong foster families are needed more now than ever. But even if serving as a foster parent isn’t something you can do right now, the good news is you can still help by offering support to foster parents. By supporting a foster family, you are providing for the needs of children who are hurting and scared. Not all are called to foster, but you can help those who do!
This caring support is critical. As many as 30-50% of licensed foster families opt out of the program every year due to lack of support.* But with support, foster parents will have access to resources that will enable them to continue fostering. Kingdom Workers’ Foster Support Program seeks to mobilize teams of Christians to assist foster families so that they will be fully equipped to provide stable and nurturing homes to children in need.
Working together, we can keep families engaged in the foster care system and encourage new families to join. I am energized by the opportunity that God has placed before us. Will you join me?
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go with us?” And I said, “Here I am, send me.” (Isaiah 6:8)
You may not be able to take a foster child into your home, but by making a monthly commitment between $50-$250, you will make a significant impact for these children. Your donation means that together, we can train more people in more churches to provide a caring environment for foster families—one where children learn that God loves them and cares for them.
