Foster Support Program Lead

Reports To: Americas Regional Director

Status: Full-time, Exempt

Effective Date: April 2024

The Foster Support Program Lead will lead and inspire his/her team to serve more people in more effective ways through the Kingdom Worker Foster Support program. This program lead will also develop and maintain numerous internal and external relationships, presenting and representing the Foster Support program as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • maintain the vision and mission of Kingdom Workers in all partnerships, development of staff and volunteers, and program development and execution
  • manage and develop a highly engaged and high-performing US Foster Support team, including employee management, reviews, goal setting, etc.
  • develop, maintain, and execute a long-term strategic plan for the US Foster Support Program, boosting reach and effectiveness over time
  • serve as the primary representative of the US Foster Support Program both internally and externally
  • develop and maintain strong relationships with numerous partners, including congregations, foster agencies, WELS Special Ministries, etc.
  • oversee and advise the US Foster Support Coordinator(s) in recruiting, engaging, and managing volunteers
  • lead and innovate, coming up with new ideas to optimize the volunteer lifecycle (recruitment, retention, etc.)
  • oversee and advise the US Foster Support Coordinator(s) in connecting volunteers with foster families
  • represent KW positively to constituents (e.g. presentations, 1:1 donor visits, congregation visits, etc.)
  • ensure that all required metrics reporting and evaluation data collection are timely and accurate
  • optimize program design and execution based on data insights
  • write and deliver communication pieces about the Foster program to the KW Brand and Creative team
  • develop and maintain the US Foster Program budget
  • maintain and execute a personal plan of ongoing professional development
  • lead and develop SE Wisconsin Region and other regions as expansion occurs
  • other duties as assigned

Education, Experience, and Characteristics:

  • must be a member in good standing with a church formally affiliated with the Confessional Evangelical Lutheran Conference. For more information click here.
  • bachelor’s degree in social work, human and family development, or other relevant field is desirable
  • work experience in the foster system or connection to the foster system
  • management experience and skills
  • ability to participate in a work environment that fosters open and honest two-way communication
  • ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and deliver quality results on time, while working on multiple projects simultaneously
  • must possess strong communication skills
  • be comfortable with the use of technology and software platforms
  • have proven ability to work cross-culturally while building relationships and working collaboratively with

Location and Travel Expectations:

  • position is based in the KW Home Office in Waukesha, WI
  • position can be partially remote as approved by management
  • ability to travel 30% of the time
  • ability to travel by road, air or other means as may be encountered in a developing country
  • ability to happily spend time and work in remote areas
  • valid passport, or ability to obtain one, required
  • valid driver’s license required


Other Conditions:

  • frequently required to walk, sit, stand, and/or lift up to 30 pounds
  • frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
  • continually required to talk and hear
  • occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions including outdoor exposure
  • occasional exposure to bloodborne and airborne pathogens or infectious materials
