Financial Controller

Department: Operations

Reports To: President & CEO

Status: Full-time, Exempt

Effective Date: January 2025

The Financial Controller will provide organizational oversight and leadership in the area of finance including strategic forecasting, budgeting, and reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • provide oversight, direction, and implementation of processes for financial budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to guide the organization in effective and efficient stewardship and sustainable growth
  • provide oversight of accounting functions including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, purchasing
  • liaise with the Finance Committee of the KW Board of Directors and KW operating team senior leadership
  • serve on the KW Leadership Team
  • design and lead annual budgeting process for the organization
  • design, manage, and execute all KW financial processes, policies, and procedures
  • coordinate all internal and external financial audits
  • maintain compliance with GAAP accounting standards as well as State and Federal legislation and non-profit public policy
  • assist with development of KW NGO’s in any country, specifically researching and implementing process and policy consistent with local legislation and accounting standards
  • manage and develop coworkers on the KW finance team
  • other duties as assigned


Education, Experience, and Characteristics:

  • must demonstrate alignment with Kingdom Workers' Statement of Faith
  • bachelor’s degree or equivalent, CPA preferred
  • experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting with preference for a non-profit setting
  • commitment to excellence and high professional standards
  • able to champion new ideas, manage change, and execute on action plans
  • ability to participate in a work environment that fosters open and honest two-way communication
  • ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and deliver quality results on time, while working on multiple projects simultaneously
  • must possess strong communication skills
  • be comfortable with the use of technology and software platforms
  • have proven ability to work cross-culturally while building relationships and working collaboratively with others

Location and Travel Expectations:

  • position is based in the KW Home Office in Waukesha, WI
  • ability to travel occasionally
  • ability to work during evenings and/or weekends occasionally
  • ability to travel by road, air or other means as may be encountered in a developing country
  • ability to happily spend time and work in remote areas
  • valid passport, or ability to obtain one, required
  • valid driver’s license required

Other Conditions:

  • frequently required to walk, sit, stand, and/or lift up to 30 pounds
  • frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
  • continually required to talk and hear
  • occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions including outdoor exposure
  • occasional exposure to bloodborne and airborne pathogens or infectious materials
