What Kingdom Workers Did For Me
Sabrina never planned to be a full-time caregiver, but she stepped in to adopt her three grandchildren. With Kingdom Workers’ support, life had a steady rhythm—until the historic Milwaukee floods damaged her home and basement. Here, she shares her reflections and gratitude for the help that followed.
In her Own Words
I received a call from my previous case manager at Children’s Wisconsin asking if I would be interested in extra help from Kingdom Workers. I said yes, not knowing what to expect from this agency. The first thing that happened was that I received a phone call asking what type of assistance I could benefit from.
Well, as a disabled person and raising three children, I needed help with lawn care and meals.
Again, I’m just going along with the flow, still not knowing what to expect. However, I was surprised by how quickly things were moving along. A very nice gentleman came and mowed my grass for me, then I was set up on the meal train, where all of a sudden, a group of women started bringing in meals once a week, which I truly appreciated. Not only did they bring in meals, but they also started spending time with my grandchildren, which, again, I truly appreciated.
From the lawn care to the meal train, then followed Kingdom Workers' handy persons. This was a very interesting part; not only did they come in and start repairing things in my home, but I was really surprised that they brought in high school students to teach them how to repair things as well.
I was appreciative of what Kingdom Workers were doing for me, but little did I know that God had already designed them to be in my life.
In August 2025, just when I thought I was finally going on a vacation, the storm and flooding came. My basement was destroyed along with my hot water heater and furnace. I was boiling water on top of the stove to put into the bathtub so my grandchildren could bathe. I was in a panic during this time, not knowing what I was going to do. Again, trusting in God and my faith, little did I know that when Ginger, a volunteer, called to check up on us, she was going to put things in motion for me.
I received a call from Kingdom Workers asking me to send pictures of my water heater. Next thing I know, here comes the handyman again with the high school students putting in a brand-new water heater for me, and not only putting in the water heater but cutting down the overgrown weeds in the backyard, helping me set up the dehumidifiers correctly, restoring doors, and so much more.
I want to give all thanks to God and to Kingdom Workers for being a blessing in our lives.
