Biblical Resolutions For 2026

Setting Goals That Matter

As another year begins, many of us feel the pull to set new goals—get healthier, get organized, finally start that project we’ve been putting off. Goals aren’t bad. But as followers of Christ, we’re invited to think bigger. Scripture calls us to pursue resolutions that shape our hearts, deepen our faith, and serve others in meaningful ways.

This year, rather than focusing solely on self-improvement, consider setting resolutions rooted in God’s Word—ways to live out His grace and serve others according to His will.

Here are four biblical resolutions that nurture your faith, along with practical ways to live them out in daily life.

1. Resolve to Love Deeply and Consistently

Jesus names love as the defining mark of His disciples (John 13:34–35). Not the vague, feel-good kind of love—intentional, sacrificial, patient love.

Practical ways to live this out:

  • Choose one person to regularly encourage each week—through a text, a note, or a check-in call.
  • Pray for God’s guidance to demonstrate Christ-like love to someone who tests your patience.
  • Support ministries that extend Christ’s love to those who often feel unseen—people facing disabilities, poverty, or crises.

2. Resolve to Grow in Your Knowledge of Scripture

God’s Word is not only a source of comfort—it is direction, reproof, and wisdom (Psalm 119:105; 2 Timothy 3:16). No resolution is more valuable than a deeper relationship with God through Scripture.

Practical ways to live this out:

  • Read one chapter of the Bible each day. (Even that small habit shapes a year.)
  • Use an audio Bible during commutes or chores to integrate Scripture into your daily rhythm.
  • Memorize one verse that speaks to an area of your life where you want God’s Word to work.

3. Resolve to Strengthen Your Prayer Life

Prayer is not a backup plan—it is the means God uses to guide His Church. When we pray, we actively participate in His mission both near and far.

Practical ways to live this out:

  • Set a daily reminder to pray for missionaries, local volunteers, and communities where Kingdom Workers is serving.
  • Keep a simple prayer journal with three columns: “Thanks,” “Requests,” and “How God Answered.”
  • Pick one ministry area—Indonesia, Grenada, Thailand, the U.S., or beyond—and commit to praying for it weekly.

4. Resolve to Serve Others with Purpose

We are not saved to sit still. Jesus calls us to serve “the least of these” (Matthew 25:40), not out of obligation but as an overflow of God’s grace.

Practical ways to live this out:

  • Get involved with Kingdom Workers, your church's ministries, a or community volunteer opportunity.
  • Look for small, unnoticed needs you can quietly meet—a ride, a meal, a listening ear.
  • Support or participate in global ministry efforts that uplift families, rebuild communities, and meet practical needs in Christ’s name.

Why These Resolutions Matter for God’s Mission

When believers commit themselves to Scripture, prayer, service, and love, they don’t just grow personally—they strengthen the global Church. These resolutions:

  • Equip local volunteers to serve with courage and compassion
  • Sustain missionaries and teams working in communities hit by crisis
  • Provide support for children and families facing overwhelming challenges
  • Extend Christ’s hope to places where it’s needed most

A Prayer for the New Year

Lord, align our hearts with Your Word. Shape our resolutions, our plans, and our priorities to reflect Your love, Your mission, and Your will. Strengthen us to serve boldly, pray faithfully, and love generously. Use us to bring hope to those You place in our path and around the world. Amen.
