How Kingdom Workers Supports Pastor Training in Indonesia
For many years, Kingdom Workers has partnered with the Lutheran Seminary of Indonesia to help train and support future pastors. In many Indonesian villages, a pastor’s leadership extends far beyond the church walls—his influence can impact the entire community. That’s why when the Seminary invited Kingdom Workers to assist with the final year of vicar training, we were eager to join in.
We believe in caring for both the spiritual and physical needs of people, following Jesus’ example of serving the whole person. Together, we’re equipping pastors to make a lasting impact in their communities.

Training Future Pastors for Holistic Ministry
This spring, Kingdom Workers worked with second-year vicars, including a young man named Theo. As part of his final year, Theo attended training sessions focused on practical ministry:
- How to enter a new village respectfully
- Building relationships with local leaders
- Identifying and meeting physical needs
- Sharing God’s word in meaningful ways
After four years of classroom learning and two years as a vicar, Theo recently received his Call to become a pastor. He now hopes to use what he learned to serve his congregation and community in Timor.

From the Classroom to the Community
One of Theo’s assignments was to map his home village—identifying its current needs and imagining what it could become if the church and community worked together for positive change.
“Making changes to improve my community is a new goal,” Theo said. “By working together, and with God’s help, we can make it happen.”
This participatory approach helped Theo and his classmates see ministry as both a spiritual and practical calling—one that can transform lives through collaboration and care.
Looking Ahead
As Theo begins his public ministry, Kingdom Workers looks forward to continuing its partnership with the Lutheran Seminary to equip future pastors for holistic, gospel-centered ministry across Indonesia. Together, we’re building bridges between faith and community, one village at a time.
