Who Funds Kingdom Workers? (Hint: It’s Not the Government)

If you’ve followed international aid funding, you may have noticed a shift in how the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) operates. USAID is one of the largest sources of government funding for humanitarian work, supporting programs around the world in areas like health, education, and infrastructure.

But Kingdom Workers does not receive a single dollar from USAID—or any government agencies.

Unlike many large nonprofits that rely on government grants, we have been fully funded by private foundations, corporations, individual congregations, and donors like you. This distinction is important because it allows us to remain faith-driven, mission-focused, and fully committed to sharing the gospel in everything we do.

Why Hasn't Kingdom Workers Accepted Government Funding?

Some organizations choose to apply for USAID grants or other government assistance because it provides significant financial resources. However, we take a different approach for several key reasons:

1️⃣ We Won’t Compromise Our Faith

Many government grants come with restrictions that limit religious expression. That means an organization receiving USAID funding might not be able to share the gospel openly in their programs. At Kingdom Workers, our work is not just about meeting physical needs—it’s about pointing people to Christ. Accepting government funding could force us to scale back or remove the faith component of our mission, and we’re simply not willing to do that.

2️⃣ We Rely on People, Not Politics

Government funding is subject to political shifts, meaning that an administration change could result in a sudden loss of funding for organizations that depend on it. Because we are supported by generous donors, churches, and private foundations, we don’t have to worry about government budgets or policy changes affecting our ability to serve.

3️⃣ We Keep Our Mission Kingdom-Focused

Some government grants require organizations to modify their programs to fit a specific framework or set of objectives. But instead of adjusting our work to meet government expectations, we focus on what is most impactful for the people we serve. Our mission remains driven by faith, not funding requirements.

Where Does Kingdom Workers’ Funding Come From?

Since we haven't accepted government money, how do we fund our work?

Individual Donors – Everyday people with a heart for service and evangelism make our work possible. Monthly donors—like those in SUSTAIN—provide consistent support for life-changing programs.

Private Foundations  – Many faith-based and community-driven foundations invest in sustainable solutions, allowing us to bring clean water, disability care, construction projects, and family support to places where they are needed most.

Churches & Church Bodies – Many Lutheran churches and groups within the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) support our programs because they see the value in combining earthly service with gospel outreach.

Why Private Donations Matter

Because Kingdom Workers is currently 100% privately funded, every donation comes from someone who believes in faith-driven change. That means:

✔️ No government restrictions on our gospel work

✔️ No political influence over how we serve

✔️ No sudden funding cuts from changing policies

✔️ 100% commitment to Christ-centered impact

Your support keeps Kingdom Workers free to serve, free to share, and free to make a lasting difference.
