Christmas With Kingdom Workers!

Christmas looks a little different for everyone, whether you’re serving abroad or working in our home office. Our Kingdom Workers staff celebrate the season in unique and joyful ways—here’s a look at how they and their families, near and far, bring the spirit of Christmas to life.

Christmas in Thailand With Dan S.

“Our family is looking forward to our first Christmas in Thailand! The markets, cafes, and shopping centers have already put up their Christmas trees, even in mid-November. Thailand is hot year-round, but we’re looking forward to a break from the 90+ degree heat during the cooler holiday season.

There are about 10 English-speaking families at our Chiang Mai Lutheran Fellowship. We’ll kick off the holiday season with camping in the mountains over Thanksgiving weekend and then host mid-week Advent gatherings in our homes.

It’s a new location, new environment, and new people for us, but the message of Christ’s coming to us as our Savior is the same wherever we celebrate Christmas!”

A Malawian Christmas With Kingsley M.

“For us, Christmas is often a simple but meaningful celebration. My children love going out during festivals, though I sometimes hesitate because of how others celebrate and the risk of accidents. Instead, we focus on creating a warm atmosphere at home. We usually buy Christmas decorations and plan for clothes here; it’s a common tradition for children to wear new clothes on Christmas Day.

Food is also a big part of the celebration. We make sure to prepare meals that everyone enjoys. On Christmas day, we start by going to church, then have lunch in town, and buy a few things for the children. After that, we head home, enjoy some snacks together, and later share dinner as a family.

Throughout the day, we make lots of phone calls to check in with relatives and friends, just to hear how they’re spending their Christmas. It’s a simple routine, but it’s full of joy and togetherness. We most of the time make sure that our parents are also having a good time.”

Celebrating Christmas in Our Home Office

Here at our home office, we love bringing the holiday spirit to work! The office is decked out with twinkling lights, festive garlands, and Christmas trees in every corner. This year, we’re also having a fun cubicle decoration competition—each team member gets creative with their workspace, and the winner will be crowned at our annual Christmas party.

Our office Christmas party will take place in January, giving everyone a chance to come together and celebrate after a busy holiday season. It’s a special time for laughter, games, and fellowship, and it reminds us that even in our day-to-day work, there’s room for joy, creativity, and community.

Different Places, Same Spirit

From Thailand to Malawi to our home office here, our staff demonstrate that the heart of Christmas—family, faith, and connection—transcends borders. Whether it’s sharing food, decorating homes, or gathering with friends and colleagues, the spirit of the season brings joy wherever you are in the world.
