Hammers, Hearts, and Holy Work
In the very beginning, before the fall, before sin ever broke into the world—there was work.
God created the heavens and the earth, set the stars in place, planted a garden, and then did something incredible: He handed Adam a job. “Work it and take care of it,” God said of the Garden of Eden (Genesis 2:15). This was paradise—and yet there was still purpose. Still responsibility. Still meaningful labor.
Work was not a punishment. It was a calling.
And that same calling echoes today.

Work as Worship
On the White Mountain Apache Reservation in Arizona, this truth is coming back to life in extraordinary ways. Homes in need of repairs dot the landscape—sagging roofs, faulty wiring, broken plumbing. But just beneath these physical problems are deeper wounds: family breakdowns, addiction, staggering unemployment, and tragically high suicide rates among young adults.
It’s a place where hopelessness has become normal—and that’s exactly where Kingdom Workers steps in. With hammers. With hearts. And with the conviction that God still uses work to bring healing, dignity, and redemption.
Take Jeremiah, for example.
He grew up on the reservation. He went to Our Savior Lutheran School in Peridot, AZ. And now, years later, his two sons walk those same halls. But Jeremiah is not just watching his sons grow—he’s helping rebuild the very buildings that shaped his childhood. Jeremiah completed his technical school training in electrical work. And now he has joined Kingdom Workers with Builders for Christ, picking up a hammer not just to fix a building, but to reclaim a sense of purpose.

A Hammer in God’s Hands
When people are given tools—both literal and spiritual—they start to build again. Not just homes, but hope. Not just structures, but strength.
The mission happening on the reservation isn’t flashy. There are no big headlines or massive stages. Just volunteers—some young, some retired—driving RVs across the country. Teens from Lutheran high schools rolling up their sleeves. Apache fathers and mothers learning how to seal a window, lay shingles, and patch drywall.
In those simple, sweat-filled moments, God is working.
He’s building faith.
He’s restoring families.
He’s reigniting futures.
And yes—He’s using actual hammers to fight addiction, overcome despair, and reveal the power of Christ-centered community.

You Were Made to Build
We live in a world that often tries to separate the sacred from the practical. But God never did.
He made us to work with our hands and serve with our hearts. To build homes and build each other up. To create beauty, provide safety, and reflect His character through tangible acts of love.
And right now—you have a chance to be part of that calling in a powerful way.
Your gift to Kingdom Workers will be matched dollar-for-dollar—doubling your impact to help train volunteers, equip local residents, and serve churches and families in desperate need.
Whether it’s $20 or $2,000, your generosity helps:
- Fund community construction projects
- Support DIY workshops for Apache families
- Equip young people with tools and trade skills
- Keep the mission running—literally—with a construction RV serving the area
- And most importantly, share the love and hope of Jesus in every nail-driven
Give Where It Builds Purpose
When you donate, you’re not just fixing homes. You’re fulfilling God’s design for meaningful work. You’re putting hammers in hands and hope in hearts.
Because even in Eden, there was a garden to tend.
Let’s keep building.
