On the Move for Christ

Do you remember the excitement of getting your first bike? The thrill of newfound freedom, the ability to go farther and faster than ever before? For many, a bike is a cherished childhood memory. But for the volunteers serving in Kenya’s Disability Care ministry, a bicycle is much more than that—it’s a lifeline to the people they serve.

Bicycles: A Game-Changer for Ministry

In January, a group of dedicated volunteers gathered for a moment they had long prayed for: the delivery of 36 bicycles provided by Kingdom Workers! The air buzzed with excitement as the volunteers—many of whom walk for hours each day to reach those in need—received the simple yet life-changing gift of a bicycle.

"We are very happy indeed for the great support, which actually will enhance our movement to serve God’s children. May God bless you!" shared one grateful volunteer.

For many African volunteers, their mission field stretches far beyond their villages. They travel across rugged terrain, through remote areas, and in all kinds of weather—often on foot. The gift of a bicycle means fewer hours spent walking and more time spent bringing the love of Christ to those in need. And for people like Kennedy and Doris, that impact is deeply personal.

Reaching Kennedy: Overcoming Distance and Disability

Kennedy lives in one of the most remote parts of his community. After surviving a tragic accident that left him with a physical disability, his mobility became severely limited due to a deformed hip bone and a broken leg. Before Kingdom Workers volunteers received bicycles, reaching Kennedy was a struggle. But now, Mourine and Mary, two dedicated volunteers, can visit him weekly, providing spiritual encouragement, emotional support, and counseling.

In the first week of February, a Worship at the Cross service was held at Kennedy’s home. Seeing fellow believers with disabilities come together in his own village brought him strength and encouragement. “I feel strong and spiritually uplifted,” he shared. In addition to spiritual care, the volunteers were also able to connect Kennedy with a nurse who now visits him weekly to provide medical care, including wound dressing for his injuries.

Doris’ Story: Spiritual Support on Two Wheels

Doris, another member of the community, relies on crutches to walk. She, too, has been blessed by the presence of volunteers who, thanks to their bicycles, can visit her frequently to share the gospel and provide spiritual encouragement. When Doris was hospitalized, volunteers made the journey to pray with her and arranged for a pastor to administer Holy Communion at her bedside.

“The volunteers have been a blessing to me,” Doris testified.

Small Wheels, Big Impact

A bicycle may seem like a small thing, but to our volunteers, it represents hope, opportunity, and the ability to do more for God’s kingdom. As they pedal forward, their message is clear: the gospel will go forth, and love will reach even the most distant places.

Through Kingdom Workers, these volunteers are not only delivering physical assistance but also the spiritual nourishment of God’s Word. Thanks to the generosity of supporters, the mission continues to grow—one bicycle, one visit, one life at a time.
