A Beacon of Hope in Malawi
Lombani Chekha, a Malawian young man, was inspired by his passion for service and the struggles faced by his community members. He discovered Kingdom Workers in 2018, during a church service in Usisya Lutheran church (Nkhata Bay district). Lombani approached Pastor K Msiska, who was wearing a Kingdom Workers’ T-shirt, and was intrigued by the group’s mission. Pastor Msiska shared his knowledge with Lombani, and he became even more interested in joining the group. Then Lombani moved to Lilongwe in 2018, which is closer to the organization’s headquarters.
Lombani became a youth member at St Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lilongwe and spread the word about Kingdom Workers to his church elders and fellow youths. He invited Kingsley Matope and Tendai Lucio, staff members of the Kingdom Workers team, to speak to their congregation. Lombani was deeply inspired by their stories of service and sacrifice and knew he had found his calling. He was eager to join the Kingdom Workers and make a difference in the world.
In 2020, Lombani, joined Kingdom Workers as a volunteer, dedicating his life to spreading God’s love and empowering communities in need. He became a beacon of hope and inspiration, and his passion and dedication remained unwavering. Eager to make a positive impact in his community. He learned the importance of evangelism, fostering a sense of community and belonging, and the value of building relationships within the community. His dedication to the cause and his dedication to making a difference in the world remain a testament to his dedication to Kingdom Workers.
Through his volunteer work, Lombani discovered a newfound passion for WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) programs, and he was determined to use his knowledge and skills to help improve access to clean water and sanitation facilities in his community. He worked tirelessly, using his expertise to construct toilet slabs and covers, and he was proud to see the impact that his work had on the lives of those around him.
While he was a college student studying Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics, Lombani was thrilled when he won the Martin Mtambo Scholarship, which allowed him to continue his studies and pursue his dreams. In 2023, he conducted his academic and industrial internship program at Kingdom Workers Malawi, gaining invaluable experience and further solidifying his passion for helping others.
In 2024, Kingdom Workers Malawi advertised a vacancy for a Malawi Field Assistant, and Lombani jumped at the opportunity to apply. After a rigorous selection process, he offered the position. This was a dream come true for Lombani, and he was eager to put the skills and knowledge he learned in college into practice, helping those in need and making a real difference in the world.
Lombani Chekha’s journey with Kingdom Workers was nothing short of remarkable. From his early days as a volunteer to his recruitment as a Malawi Field Assistant, Lombani’s passion for helping others and his determination to make a difference in the world never wavered.
